When was the last time you went home? Or do you consider yourself already at home? Going home seems to be a choice for many of us, but for some it is impossible. In a modern world with such advanced technologies, why is it impossible?
Bei-Ling, a Chinese author, was arrested in 2000 after publishing a controversial magazine, and later exiled. Since then he has traveled to several countries, and for 18 years he has not had a chance to return to his home – Beijing.
Beijing has changed greatly since the year 2000. What impression does he draw when he thinks about Beijing today? What is it like knowing he might never be able to go home again? Will he ever get to go home?
This program is supported by Greater Vancouver Taiwanese-Canadian Association and UBC Centre for Chinese Research.
Co-presented by Vancouver Writer’s Festival
